Alexis Purdy – Gymnastics

“So I did gymnastics for nine years of my life, and it had been my highest priority for as long as I can remember. I did club gymnastics for six years and decided to quit and join high school gymnastics my sophomore year. It sounds cheesy, but switching over was honestly one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life because I was able to fall back in love with the sport due to my amazing coaches and teammates. High school gym brought me some of my best memories and brought the very best people into my life. My senior season was definitely super memorable because I knew in the back of my mind that it would be my last time ever competing, so I made the most of every practice and every day. My last meet was totally bittersweet because I was so relieved that I finally crossed the finish line, but at the same time I was saying goodbye to something that has been a piece of me for as long as I can remember. It’s weird being totally done with the sport, but I’m content knowing that I ended in the best way possible and with the best teammates possible.”
