Six golfers went in hopes of making it to the KSHAA state championship which took place Monday and Tuesday this week. Freshman Liz Lyons, sophomore Lauren Richey, and junior Bailey Basham all made it to the state championship this year.

This year’s regional competition, hosted by Mill Valley, was an 18-hole course. Olathe West ended with a score of 419. Liz Lyons finished fifth in the competition with a score of 93.

On Monday,  the three golfers set out for Hutchinson where they competed in the 6A state tournament.

“It was a new experience, I had played in a lot of golf tournaments before but it was different playing with really good people,” freshman Liz Lyons said.

The girls finish off their season at state, where Lyons finished with a score of 110 and Richey finished with a score of 114. Basham moved on to day two of the tournament and finished with a score of 102 for day one, and 95 for day two.
