As the leaves fall from the trees and their season winds down, the soccer team find themselves proud of their performance and excited about the future.

“Yesterday’s game, we won 5-0 [against Olathe East],” Elijah Ochoa said. “It’s the result that we really wanted after hard training over the past weeks.”

The soccer team’s landslide victory was thanks to productive efforts across the squad. With the only player with multiple goals being Johnny Munoz with two, the rest all coming from single goal efforts.

“We played really good,” Henry Curnow said. “We scored early in the game, so the game got easier after that. We played a lot better than recent games.”

With an overall season record of 18-1-0, they have now reached the semifinals where they will take on Dodge City HS Nov. 8 at 5 p.m. in Topeka to vie for the Kansas State Championship Trophy, and they like their odds.

“(We feel) really confident going into this game,” Ochoa said. “Should be an easy game.”

If the team defeats Dodge City HS, they will advance to the final game Nov. 9 at 2 p.m.
