Model Hailey Bieber and pop star Selena Gomez have made headlines again. Feuding rumors began to surface in 2018 when Justin Bieber proposed to Hailey Baldwin six months after Bieber and Gomez split for good. Many Selena fans were arguing that Hailey “stole” Justin. Fans had started to quiet down a bit when Hailey and Selena posed together for a picture in October 2022. 

Both parties made the spotlight again February 2023, but this time with Kylie Jenner in the mix. 

Gomez posted a video to TikTok explaining how she accidentally over-laminated her eyebrows. Three hours later, Jenner posted a photo of her face with text on it reading “This was an accident?” Then Jenner posted a screenshot of a FaceTime with Hailey Beiber that focused on both their eyebrows. Though if this sounds silly to you, you’re not alone. 

Gomez and Jenner replied to a TikTok talking about the incident. Jenner said “This is reaching. No shade towards Selena ever.”  Selena replied with “It’s all unnecessary. I’m a fan of Kylie!” Though Gomez fans still speculate that this was shade towards her. 

This event did spark up some older videos of Bieber to surface again. In January 2023, a TikTok including Hailey Bieber and her friends, Justine Skye and Kendall Jenner showed the girls mouthing “I’m not saying she deserved it, but God’s timing is always right.” Many believed it was a reference to how previously that same week Gomez had been receiving hateful comments about her body all over her social media. 

The TikTok was taken down with Bieber stating, “It was a random TikTok sound for fun.” Gomez commented on a reaction video of this incident and said “It’s OK! I don’t let these things get me down! Be nice to everyone!”

Fans of Gomez are calling Hailey a “bully” and a “mean girl.” According to Rolling Stone, Bieber has lost about one million followers, whereas Gomez has become the most followed woman on Instagram gaining around 10 million followers.

While Hailey has been very quiet throughout the drama, Gomez stated on TikTok that she would be taking a break from social media. “I’m 30 and I’m too old for this,” Gomez said.

Fans of both Bieber and Gomez remain harshly split, so while both celebrities remain quiet, fans stay loud voicing their opinions through TikTok, many of them even being high schoolers. The question is, have the fans taken it too far?

Senior Nadia Nielson gave her opinion on the Hailey vs. Selena feud. 

“I definitely think this drama is more entertaining to see than anything and I think it’s a little silly, but definitely team Selena because she is going through a lot,” Nielson said.. “It’s pretty easy to tell that she’s a genuine person and I just think Hailey needs to just let her be.”
