Olathe West Band performed their first fall concert on Oct. 24. With weeks of preparation put into the concert, the outcome of the concert was phenomenal. Concert, jazz, symphonic, and marching band performed many different pieces of music.

The concert started at 7:00 pm and was held in the auditorium.

“It’s a beautiful space, and it sounds wonderful in there, so we’re excited to have the concert,” said Head Band instructor Carol Lowman prior to the concert.

Students had practiced in the auditorium two days prior to the concert.

“Our third-hour concert band has been working on concert music since the beginning of school, so they’re definitely ready for [the] concert,” said Lowman.

Students had been feeling excited and anxious for the upcoming band concert. Freshmen Lexi Snakenberg shared her feelings about the band concert.

“I was mostly excited. It was like our first concert, so I was excited to see everyone’s reaction,” said Snakenberg.

With the band department acquiring many Green Tech students, they have incorporated becoming eco-friendly. Lowman discusses one way they are actively supporting their Green Tech students.

“There’s an app called Green Event, and it’s a way for us to use a digital program instead of a paper program,” said Lowman.

With band opening its first year with integrating a new focus on technology, Olathe West will be contented with what band will bring to the table.
