After a tight 83-79 win at Maize High School on Friday Dec. 6, the Owls looked to continue that momentum when they faced the Paseo Academy Pirates at home.
Monday’s game was the first to utilize the 35 second shot clock that was installed on top of the hoop this past summer. The new rule wasn’t a factor for the Owls, as zero violations were committed by either team.
The Owls piled the points on, their 99 points being the most scored by an Olathe West team since the schools opening in 2017. The 63 point margin of Victory is also the largest win in school history.

The Owls got off to a hot start in front of the home crowd with a 24-2 run in the first quarter. Sophomore Colton Nichols and junior Malachi Buckner combined for 12 points of the big run.
The shots didn’t stop falling for the Owls, with 63 of their 99 scored points coming from the bench. Sophomores Cash Warren and Luca Ridgeway both had 15 and 10 points respectively, with junior David Harper adding 14.
The defense for the Owls was a difference-maker in Monday’s game, with the defense forcing numerous turnovers by the Pirates. The 36 points allowed was the least since the Owls allowed 29 against Gardner-Edgerton on Feb. 9, 2024.
