Since 1944, the annual Golden Globes Award ceremony honors the hard work of artists and actors throughout the year. In case you missed it, here’s a recap of the 2025 ceremony. 

Niki Glaser, the awards host, is an American comedian and actress. Her commentary during the show was widely loved for her ruthless jabs at current happenings in pop culture. She was able to be serious when needed, but still kept the crowd laughing. 

Like the many other awards shows, the Golden Globes has no shortage of iconic fashion moments. With looks from Dior, Gucci, Chanel, Valentino and more, the red carpet saw actors and actresses dressed to impress.

One look that caught the eye of many fans was Zendaya. While her dress in itself was a showstopper, her engagement ring was the real star of the show. Zendaya debuts her engagement to Tom Holland with this look and fans are going crazy for it. 

Junior Nora Brown remarked it as her favorite look of the night.

“Zendaya looked phenomenal, I really loved her dress, she never fails to serve,” said Brown.

As for awards, people always have differing opinions on who should win. Everyone has different creative preferences that they like to see in the media they watch. Speaking with Brown she tells us her opinions on this year’s winners. 

“I do not agree with a lot of the Emilia Perez awards, especially considering Emilia Perez won best musical or comedy over Wicked,” said Brown.

Brown’s disappointment with Wicked not winning best musical is shared by many, including English Language Learning teacher Nici Coulson. 

“Wicked was such an amazing production—I just don’t think there’s anything that can hold up against it,” said Coulson.

Despite the upset or joy that comes with awards, the Golden Globes appeals to both film enthusiasts and casual film fans. By showcasing media that is loved by professional critics, the show gives suggestions of what to see before the rest of the awards of the season come out.
