BEFORE THE ELECTION
Who do you think will win the 2020 election?
“I think, as of now, Biden is going to win” – Abby Gonzalez, junior
“I’ve seen both sides, I don’t know which [will win]. There’s been a lot of different supporters but I think Biden is going to win right now.” – Emma Seibel, junior
“I think it will be a very close call, I know that this is one of our bigger voting turnout that we’ve ever had, but I think that Trump will end up winning.” – Morgan Stanley, junior
“The news says Biden [will win] but in the last election the news said Hillary so I’d probably have to go with Biden but I’m sure there’s still a strong chance Trump will win.” – Dylan Hall, sophomore
Who do you want to win?
“I want Biden to win because I feel like Trump, his decisions and how he views things aren’t right towards others and discriminates against other people.” – Abby Gonzalez, junior
“I would like Trump to win again… I’ve seen a lot of things go right in his presidency, I mean he definitely has his downfalls but I think redoing everything all over again he has worked up to, that would end up being kind of disastrous.” – Morgan Stanley, junior
“Biden. I think he has a better handle on COVID than Trump has.” – Nick Sibert, junior
Why do you want this person to win?
“Biden brings up more issues and has a plan for [climate change] verses Trump saying he has a plan and not explaining it…Biden supports more things and sees everyone has equal versus everyone against each other.” – Abby Gonzalez, junior
“Trump isn’t the absolute best, but he’s definitely gotten a lot of stuff done, like lowering unemployment and creating more jobs and things along those lines that people are going to want to stick towards.” – Morgan Stanley, junior
“Look at the economic standpoint of how Trump has run our economy the last 4 years, I feel like that out look would be much better than what Obama did and from what I’ve heard, Joe Biden wants to continue that and that’s why a lot of people are voting for him so I like Trump’s opinions on how to run the country better.” – Dylan Hall, sophomore
How would you feel if the other candidate were to win?
“I wouldn’t enjoy it if [Biden] won but I think it will end up fine, I think that there would be a lot of new laws passed that I particularly wouldn’t enjoy but I’d live with.” – Morgan Stanley, junior
“If Trump wins, I think a lot more people would immigrate to Canada so I mean that would help our population.” – Nick Sibert, junior
“I guess it would be interesting, I’ve heard mixed reviews about Biden and about how well he would run, but I’m hoping he does better.” – Emma Seibel, junior
What do you think are each candidate’s best and worst policies that they plan to do in office?
“I think Biden is definitely going to try to focus on COVID.” – Abby Gonzalez, junior
“I definitely like how Trump doesn’t abide by anyones elses rules and he kind of gets stuff done and that he knows it’s going to work.” – Morgan Stanley, junior
AFTER THE ELECTION
How do you feel about Biden winning?
“I’m happy about Biden winning the election. I think he’s going to do good things for this country.” – Abby Gonzalez, junior
“I don’t really have an opinion about Biden winning, but I’m fine with it.” – Emma Seibel, junior
“As long as the election was fair and people have voted him in, obviously he’s done something right and a lot of American people want him in there then he has the right to be there.” – Morgan Stanley, junior
“I feel fine about it, I’m more concerned about Kamala Harris. I’m OK with Joe Biden.” – Dylan Hall, sophomore
“I feel like we now have a chance to improve our society again and we can start to rebuild our country because we have to rebuild at this point.” – Nick Sibert, junior
Do you think there was any voter fraud?
“I don’t think there was any voter fraud.” – Abby Gonzalez, junior
“I think each party has a little bit of voter fraud on each side of the election.” – Emma Seibel, junior
“I feel like [voter fraud] happens every year, it just might have been a bigger problem this year. I trust that whatever it is, America and our legal system will get to the bottom of it, votes will get counted and maybe that’s not in the timely fashion that we would want it to happen but again, as long as it’s fair, it is what it is… “I’m very skeptical of Michigan that just had random amounts of Biden votes. I mean, I don’t completely think that how the election went down was completely and totally fair, I think there’s something weird going on especially with a lot of states just stopping counting at weird times.” – Morgan Stanley, junior
“I feel like there’s probably some sort of cheating in the election but there’s always cheating in every election…I’m sure there was some sort of cheating but I’m just going to accept that Joe is my president.” – Dylan Hall, sophomore
“It was a fair election.” – Nick Sibert, junior
How do you feel about having our first Black woman vice president?
“Definitely having a woman vice president is a really cool thing no matter if you agree with her or not, I think it’s pretty cool… I hope [Kamala] will represent America well. From what I’ve seen in the past, my faith in her isn’t the biggest, but I mean you can always change.” – Morgan Stanley, junior
“I think this is the year we needed Kamala. Like in 2016 it would have been cool, but this is the year it should have happened and I’m glad it happened and I think she’s going to do a lot for our country…“I feel like Kamala will do more for minorities and the middle class.” – Nick Sibert, junior
“Watching her speak [Kamala Harris], there’s just something off about her.” – Dylan Hall, sophomore
Do you think Trump should concede?
“I feel like Trump should concede. I mean I understand why he won’t. He doesn’t want to lose the election and it’s hard for him to let go but at this point, I don’t think a recount is going to help at all so I just think he should concede.” – Dylan Hall, sophomore
“[Trump] not willing to concede is just showing how childish he is and how he shouldn’t even be in office in the first place…Even Bush congratulated Biden and Trump still won’t admit he lost.” – Nick Sibert, junior
How do you think Biden will handle COVID?
“Biden’s big thing is shutting down the economy again and almost hitting a restart button on how we’ve dealt with COVID and yes COVID is definitely a huge thing right now and it’s horrible but I don’t think shutting down the world again is going to do as much good as they think it’s going to do.” – Morgan Stanley, junior
“Hopefully Biden will handle COVID way better than Trump did.” – Emma Seibel, junior
“I think Biden will handle COVID better than Trump considering Trump got it.” – Abby Gonzalez, junior
