Faith Haugh – Girls Tennis

“I first started tennis when I was around 5. I took lessons on the basics for around a year and a half then I stopped. It wasn’t till my eighth grade year that I started back up again and I practiced for high school. I did lessons and JLT (Junior Tennis League), through Genesis Racket Club. I was on the split squad my freshman year. My sophomore year I was on JV and I did doubles with Isabella Romero. My junior year I was on Varsity and I played doubles with my sister and we medaled at the Topeka Invitational at Kossover, fifth place in #2 doubles. I ended that year with my first varsity letter. Finally my senior year, I was in the middle of Varsity and JV. I played doubles with the same Isabella (my sophomore year), ending my season by getting third place in #1 doubles at the Sunflower JV League, and received my second letter for tennis. Personally, this year my record to win vs. losses was the best by far. I’ve spent hours towards tennis, match after match, I’ve built lasting memories around my tennis career, so now that I’m done with my high school tennis career it’s definitely a sad feeling. But I think there’s a lot more to come in my life and I’m eager to see what the future holds for me beyond high school. While I don’t plan to play tennis for a college, tennis will always be a meaningful part of my life.”
