On Wednesday, Oct.1, the Senior Girls Blue Team won the annual Powder Puff Game, taking home the trophy and the glory. They beat the Junior-Blue team in a hard-fought battle and ended the game with a score of 21-7.
This year, the game looked a little different. Typically, only about 16 girls can be on a single team, which excludes many students who want to play. This year, Student Council worked with Assistant Principal Ann-Lynn Morris to create a new system where more girls could get on the field. Two junior teams were made, Junior Blue and Junior Silver, along with two Senior teams, Senior Blue and Senior Silver.
With the addition of two teams, the game was turned into a bracket. The junior teams played each other on the left half of the football field while the senior teams simultaneously played one another on the right half.

During the first round of games, the juniors battled it out hard, and by half, the score was 8-0, with Junior Blue Team taking the lead. Junior Silver Team put up a good fight, but wasn’t able to hold Junior Blue Team. The game ended 16-6, sending the Junior Blue Team to the final.
Over on the other half, the seniors were clashing hard, also ending the first half with a score of 8-0, Senior-Blue pushing ahead. In the second half, Senior Blue Team did not hold back. They scored an additional two touchdowns, ending the game as a 23-0 blowout.
The Junior Blue Team faced off against the Senior Blue Team in the Championship game. This game was played on the full field, endzone to endzone. Junior Blue Team started strong with a rushing touchdown by junior Ellia Robinson halfway through the first half. Senior Blue Team retaliated by throwing a deep pass to senior Molly Collins, who ran it into the end zone to tie up the game. The seniors kept up their efforts and secured a second touchdown by senior Hannah Lester just before half, leaving the score at 14-7.
The Second half was just as exciting and tense, both teams giving it their all to secure the victory. However, Senior Blue Team delivered the final blow with a touchdown by senior Lexi Cooley, raising the score to 21-7.
The sun was now completely beyond the horizon, causing the game to be cut short for lack of light. Senior Blue Team stormed the field, basking in their well-deserved victory. Although they lost, the Junior Blue Team played incredibly and showed off their potential for a victory next year.
