Q1: What was the most difficult thing for you this year?

A: I did not get a degree in education and I’ve never worked in education before so this is my first year working with high school students. I don’t feel like I’m that much older than you guys so I guess it’s weird to put myself in more of a teacher role. It was a weird adjustment.

Q2: What traditions do you hope to make better or hope to start?

A: My biggest goal is to make TSA bigger and hopefully by next year we won’t have five to six awards, we’ll have 12 because well have a huge group of kids. So, what I want tradition wise–I want us to have more team building activities for TSA, I want us to become closer as a group and not just after state. I want everyone to get to know each other and support each other because I think that’s important once you’re in the competition.

Q3: How do you hope west will change next year?

A: I hope that everyone continues to be as flexible as they can because it is a new type of learning, its a new type of teaching I think it’s really great, the project-based learning and it’s very new, not just for the teachers but for the students as well. So I think the biggest area of improvement but also what we can continue doing well is being flexible.

Q4: What was your fondest memory of this year?

A: My fondest memory from this year was the very very beginning before this school even opened, I was planning on moving next year and I wasn’t going to come here or anything. Mrs. Massey got this job and I was working with her at an elementary school, and she was like “well before you make any decisions, I want to show you where I’m working next year.” So then she brought me here, and it was really empty and creepy and she took me around and she was just like, “Mr. Novacek told me I could hire anyone I wanted and I want to hire you and I think it’s a really good opportunity, brand new school, brand new type of learning, and I think you’d be perfect at it.” So, my fondest memory would be Mrs. Massey conning me into working this job and then I was here for a whole year.
