Take a look at the fall festivities happening in the area this year

Fall is here but coming to an end in a couple weeks, with the weather getting cooler people choose to stay inside, watch movies, and get cozy in bed. Others go out and do fun activities for the spooky season. Here are some of the best places to go from cheapest to priciest in the Kansas City area.

Trunk or Treat at Olathe West (2200 W Santa Fe St, Olathe, KS 66061)

We will have our Trunk or Treat this year on Oct. 27 from 1-3 p.m. In the West parking lot, each car will include a variety of clubs from our school that offer games or candy. Costumes are encouraged, and bring friends and family. The event is free, so come enjoy some Halloween fun.

Overland Park Fall Festival (8500 Santa Fe Dr, Overland Park, KS 662120)

Overland Park Fall Festival will begin Sept. 27 4-8 p.m. to Sept. 28 8 a.m.-5 p.m.This fall festival will have food trucks, vendors, booths, concessions, mini golf, and a free shuttle bus. Booths will have more than 75 local and regional artisans, also including local performers and farmers. They also are looking for volunteers; you must be 15 years old to volunteer alone. Anyone younger has to be accompanied by a guardian. Vendors have a variety of products, including fresh produce, local foods, and specialty items. There is also free admission.

Louisburg Cider Mill (14730 K-68 Hwy, Louisburg, KS 66053)

This fall season the 46th annual Ciderfest will open Sept. 28 from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

and offers visitors activities like the Louisburg Lions pancake breakfast from

8 a.m. - 11 a.m. There is also live music at 11 a.m., cider, and donut making, pony rides, inflatables, craft booths, gifts & collectible vendors, and many food and BBQ vendors.

For the family farm season, they will have the Zombie Forest Night which will be from September 13th to November 3rd on Oct 26th, 6:30 PM - 10:00 PM. This night will be filled with thrills as zombies enter the corn maze at 6:30 PM. They recommend bringing a phone or flashlight for the darkness awaiting. There will be live music, campfire, hayrides, and more. Regular admission is $15.99 per person, children 2 and under are free

This farm season will also include the 14th annual burning of the scarecrow, which will start at 7:00 PM - 7:30 PM on Oct 26th. This is their traditional fireworks show.

Normal hours:

Monday - Thursday: 8 a.m. -6 p.m.

Friday - Saturday: 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Sunday: 9 a.m.- 6 p.m.

There is no admission or parking fee.

Gieringers Family Orchard & Berry Farm (39345 W 183rd St, Edgerton, KS 66021)

This family orchard will be open on Fridays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturdays & Sundays from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.Daily admission is $10 Fridays & $12 Saturdays and Sundays (2 and under free).

Admission includes Corn maze & kids mini maze, U-Pick apples & pumpkins, pumpkin jump pad, corn pit, sunflower fields (when in bloom) & Zinnia fields, hay mountain, combine slide & truck slide, kids play area, gaga ball, apple slingshot, low ropes obstacle course, shaded lunch area with tables, local food trucks (Sat & Sun only) and more!

The farm market is closed Monday and Wednesday and is open Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm.

Acres of Madness Haunted House (615 Wolcott Dr, Kansas City, KS 66109)

Acres of Madness is a multi-attraction that begins Oct. 4 - Nov. 1 and 30, during 6:20 - 10:40

Here they have riot rooms, a shooting gallery, rides, games, food/concessions, and more.

There are three other popular attractions: House of Horrors, Zombies Purge, and Hell’s Gate.

Worlds of Fun Halloween Haunt (4545 Worlds of Fun Ave, Kansas City, MO 64161)

Worlds of Fun will open up its Halloween Haunt, on Friday, Sept.13 through Oct. 26.

The Haunt will be on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 6:30 p.m. - 12:00 p.m.Which offers many things to keep you occupied through the night, such as rides, mazes, scare zones, live shows, games, and seasonal food.

Fall admission is $39.99, Bring-A-Friend tickets are $19.99, 2024 Gold Pass is $8/mo

(Gold Pass includes Halloween Haunt Silver Pass does not)

GloWild Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium (6800 Zoo Drive Kansas City, MO 64132)

GloWild will be from Sept. 6 - Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 - Dec. 29 from 5 to 6 p.m. - 9 to 10 p.m.

Which will feature a new “Legends & Lore” theme. This special nighttime walk-through event is collaborating with LEKTRIK ART, which features many light sculptures around the park. There are mazes, yard games, and performances. Animals will not be available for viewing and the Aquarium will be open only on Wednesday afternoons.

General admission tickets: Tickets for all guests ($22 - $24 per ticket)

Unlimited pass: Unlimited GloWild admission ($37 - $39 per pass)

Combo tickets: Zoo + GloWild ticket ($27 - $39 per ticket)

The Beast Haunted House (1401 W 13th St Suite B, Kansas City, MO 64102)

The Beast will run from Sept. 27 to Nov. 2. This Haunted House will be open Thursdays through Saturdays from 6:30 to 7:30 and 10:30 to 11:30. It features animatronics, mazes, and slides. Full Moon Productions, one of the country's leading haunted house and entertainment development companies, owns and operates the attraction.

By selecting a date, you can reserve tickets, choose your timing from the available time slots, and purchase as many tickets as you want. There is a 10-ticket limit per purchase. Single tickets are $27.00, and single VIP tickets are $57.00; both include free parking.

If you don’t choose to stay inside and want to go out with family and friends instead, hopefully, these places will give you more options than just a walk in the park.

Vintage Market Days (18801 E. 39th Street, S, Independence, MO)

This vintage-inspired shopping experience features local, regional, and national vendors with vintage, antiques, original art, boutique clothing, treats, garden items, children's clothing and items, handmade jewelry, and many more.

There will be live music daily, giveaways, and more!

The dates will be from Fri, Nov 1 - Nov 3, from 10 am - 3 pm.

Admission for children under 12 is free. Cash and credit cards are accepted at the gate. Once purchased, your ticket is good for re-entry into the event.

Toynbee's House of Horrors (35753 W 146th St, Gardner, KS 66030)

Toynbees is a haunted house with many intense, thrilling rooms with different terrors. This haunted house has small passages, loud noises, strobe lights, fog and mist, and total darkness through all hallways and rooms. Regular tickets are 25$ per person, and they offer discounts for military and first responders and for groups of 10 or more.
