W Korea, an event management company based in South Korea, holds its annual “Love Your W.” The event is built to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research and funds.
Yet when a room full of multimillionaires came to raise under $105,000, fans were outraged at both the 100 idols in attendance and the event itself.
2025 marked the 20-year anniversary of this event, bringing in huge celebrities in the K-pop industry, including artists like Yeji, Hyoyeon, Taeyang and many more fan favorites.
Idol Jay Park, performed his hit song “Mommae” at the event with lyrics erotically describing women’s breasts, bringing even more controversy towards the event that was already in hot water.

Many pictures surfaced, showing idols partying and using the event to socialize for the media and have a drink. It’s also reported that only one idol showed up in pink, Byeon Woo-seok, who wore a single pale pink flower against his white suit.
If the backlash for lack of representation and loss of original intent wasn’t enough, the donations enraged once-loving fans.
BTS, a sensational group, had one member attend. Alone, each member has a net worth of over 20 million dollars. In a room full of artists in the same financial boat, they barely reached a total of $100,000 and in all 20 years, only $773,700 USD.
W Korea later came out to apologize along with many idols for their out-of-touch actions. Yet fans all across the globe still hold resentment towards the situation and the company.
“Above all, we deeply apologize for failing to consider the perspectives of breast cancer patients and their families, causing discomfort and pain,” domestic fashion magazine ‘W Korea’ stated. “We are also remorseful that many who participated with goodwill, resonating with the campaign’s purpose, experienced inconvenience due to the controversy.”
